Dong is from Jilin City in the northeast of China. He has two (TWO!) Bachelor's degrees in Chemistry (from Jilin University and the University of Groningen) but decided to pursue a PhD in biology. His thesis project studies the behavioral neurobiology of the circadian rhythm of mosquitoes. He loves sparkling water.
